Grade 2 Teaching Guides, Learning Materials developed

Grade II Teaching Guides (TGs) and Learning Materials (LMs) for the K to 12 Curriculum have been developed by the writing team of DepEd Region I.

Materials for Mother Tongue (Pangasinan and Iloko), Araling Panlipunan, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Mathematics, Music, Art, P.E. and Health have been made. All TGs are in English or Filipino while the LMs are in Pangasinan and Iloko.

The RO1 team of writers composed of chosen supervisors school heads and teachers came up with the said materials after a series of writeshops was conducted at the Regional Educational Learning Center (RELC) with RD Teresita M. Velasco and Dr. Vivian Luz S. Pagatpatan, Chief of the Elementary Education Division of the Region on the forefront.

To assure quality of the materials, the DepEd Central Office Review Team (CORT) tasked to appraise, evaluate, assess and critique the content, language and format joined the group, Dec. 11-14.

Rebecca Hilario and Marilou Pandino, Education Program Specialists (EPS) , Curriculum Development Division, Bureau of Elem. Division of the Central Office reviewed the content.

Daisy Asuncion Santos, Chief, Instructional Materials Council Secretariat (IMCS) and Monette Luz Dumandan, EPS II, IMCS-EED reviewed the format.

Joselito D. Daguisan, Faculty, Language Dev’t of Pangasinan State University, Bayambang and Elvira Estravo, Chief, Translation Division, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, reviewed the language.

Dr. Brenda Corpuz, a DepEd consultant also provided comments and recommendations.

Part of the K to 12 Basic Education Program implementation effort is the development of instructional resources aligned to the goals and objectives of today’s DepEd banner program. To this end, Region 1 pool of K to 12 champions got themselves actively involved in the contextualization of Grade 3 Learners’ Materials (LMs).

Lucky Joy T. Miguel, a native of Binacag, Banna, Ilocos Norte, finished her race and earned a special award during the recently concluded 8th Graduation Day of the Alternative Learning System (ALS), a free education program of the Department of Education (DepEd) on July 4, 2015 at San Nicolas Central Elementary School, Ilocos Norte.
